KCCP Young Professionals Network held a closed event on Saturday, May 6, 2017. It was held at Advanced Food Systems® (AFS) in Somerset, NJ, where young Korean American professionals had the opportunity to ask the CEO of AFS, Yongkeun Joh, about his success as an entrepreneur and to hear his advice to young aspiring second and third generation Korean professionals.
The meeting was organized by the Chair of the Young Professionals Network, Wan Cha, along with fellow executive committee members David Lee and Minsung Choy: Wan currently works as a law clerk to a Federal judge in NJ; David is a successful Commercial Insurance Broker; and Minsung is concluding his studies in Pharmacy school. Approximately 25 people attended the event, including attorneys, brokers, financial advisors, food scientists, chemists, and graduate students. The seminar featured a keynote speech by Mr. Joh, discussions, and a private tour of the company’s facilities.
Mr. Joh explained why, when, and where he started his company, and how he prepared for the company startup and used the network to grow his business. Mr. Lee spoke about his transition from the music industry and his rise in the insurance industry. All participants enjoyed lunch prepared by AFS. The program attracted numerous first-time attendees, and the Young Professionals Network is busy planning the next even to be held this Summer.
